Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know
CAN I CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?
Our company does not have cancellations fees.
However, if you do cancel within a 24 hour period, it may be subject to a “dry run fee” being assessed by the carrier.
DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?
Yes, we carry a contingent cargo liability policy. Additionally, our preferred carriers have a $1M auto liability policy, and motor truck cargo coverage.
We require all carriers to list us as certificate holders.
WHAT HAPPENS ON PICK-UP & DELIVERY?
The driver should call two hours ahead of time to arrange. We use an electronic bill of lading, photos will be taken of your vehicle on pick-up & delivery, and you’ll be asked to sign.
Call us immediately if you notice any changes or damages on delivery, BEFORE you sign.
HOW DO I PAY?
Once your vehicle is picked up, we will email you a link to pay online by credit card.
CAN I PACK ITEMS IN MY CAR?
Yes, although contents are not insured.
The rule of thumb is 100 lbs or less – if you need to pack more than that, please give your agent a heads up, and be prepared with cash for the driver.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
It takes 1–3 days to schedule pick-up.
Once the vehicle is picked up, drivers typically move about 600 miles per day, with an additional 1–2 days grace period for auto shipping variables in transit.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We strive to offer best price, keeping in mind our carriers, clients, and company. Shipping a vehicle is not about cheapest price, it’s about working with a reliable carrier, and offering you great service.
HOW DOES GATEWAY DAY AGENCY SELECT AND VET THE CARRIERS WE USE?
Our software gives us access to comprehensive ratings for every carrier we partner with, to include real time verification that they are in good standing with the FMCSA, and all insurance is current. We have preferred carriers that we have worked extensively with over the years, and new carriers that must meet our aforementioned agency standards.
